Regional Anti Wind Power Station Groups (43 and counting)Back to the top of the pageFenland Landscape Against Turbines (FLAT) - a campaign to stop wind turbines being erected at Marshland St James, Norfolk. Save Our Scenery - Protecting Our Heritage Coastline (SOS) The website of the group protesting against the proposal to a site a wind farm consisting of 220+ turbines in Llandudno and Colwyn Bay. Npower Renewables propose to establish the largest offshore wind farm in the UK in Colwyn bay. The turbines will be the largest so far at some 520 feet. No Ellands Wind Turbines NEWT is the action group set up by villagers from Thurning, Hemington, Luddington-in-the-Brook and Clopton to: Oppose the plans for wind turbines at Ellands Farm, Hemington, seek specialist advice about the impact of this development on the local community, let you know about the progress of the plans, what you can do to help and let you know about planned meetings to discuss the development. Dunion Hill Conservation Group The site at Dunion Hill has been 'scoped' or tested for suitability by a firm called Entec who now propose to erect 8 wind turbines between the Dunion and Black Law. The Dunion Hill Conservation Group believes that windfarm sites must be carefully selected to avoid lasting damage to landscape, environment and the local economy. No Wind Farm at Kiln Pit Hill the web site of the residents of Kiln Pit Hill, Unthank and surrounding villages, adjacent to North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. BATTLE - Bradwell & Tillingham Tackling Lost Environment the web site dedicated to the protection of the countryside around the village of Bradwell & Tillingham, and in particular to the campaign to prevent the construction of one of the largest onshore wind-farms in the UK on the marshes between Bradwell and the village of Tillingham. Moorland Without Turbines The action group of Lewis residents, who are alarmed and concerned at the various proposed wind power station developments for North Lewis (234 turbines). Ayrshire Wind With the continuous proliferation of windfarms in the west of Scotland, it was felt there was a need for a central point to collate and map these developments. This website is dedicated to share information and inform interested parties of what is taking place in the Scottish countryside. The Clatto Landscape Protection Group are working to protect Clatto Hill from industrial development when a proposal was made by Scottish Power to build a Wind Power Station* on Clatto Hill in Fife. CLPG was formed by a group of concerned local residents. 17 turbines, each 93 meters high, that is the same height as the Statue of Liberty, would dominate their intricate rural landscape. *The term windfarm is commonly used. This is a rural area, we know what a farm is, and this is not one. It is an industrial plant. Moorsyde Action Group the website of the Moorsyde Action Group, set up to oppose Your Energy's 'Moorsyde' Wind Farm proposal. More background on "Your Energy Ltd." Mellock Hill Action Group. A new protest group fighting the construction of a wind farm on Mellock Hill and Innerdouny Hill, near the national nature reserve at Loch Leven and RSPB Vane Farm. This wind farm is one of six proposed for the eastern Ochil Hills. The developer is RDC of Cefn Croes notoriety. N.I.N.A. (Not in North Argyll). The website of the group opposing Wind Power Station developments in Inverliever (17-22 Turbines) and An Suidhe (24 Turbines) overlooking Loch Awe. Den Brook Valley Wind Turbine Action Group. Welcome to the Den Brook Valley Wind Turbine Action Group. The group is largely formed from residents of the towns and villages surrounding Den Brook - North Tawton, Bow and Spreyton. The group oppose proposals to build between 10 and 19 huge wind turbines on the doorstep of Dartmoor National Park. The group is in favour of renewable energy, but have found that the supposed benefits of 'Wind Farms' turn out to be nothing more than myths. NOWAP (NO Windfarm at Parham), - the website of action group formed on the 7th of January 2004 to oppose the proposed windfarm development of Parham airfield, in the county of Suffolk. The developer's propose to erect six turbines of 101m (331ft). Interesting section on the relationship between Saxon Windpower and Your Energy Ltd. Amulree & Strathbraan Windfarm Action Group - this website was set up at the start of 2004 as a result of a number of proposals to build large-scale wind power stations near to Amulree and Strathbraan. These proposals are for industrial scale wind power stations with up to 75 modern turbines, as tall as 122 metres (400 feet) to blade tip and are inappropriate for this rural location. Skye Windfarm Action Group (SWAG) - the website of the action group opposing AMECs proposal to erect 28 x 330ft wind turbines overlooking the village of Edinbane and RDC's proposal to erect a further 14 x 330ft wind turbines on the neighbouring Ben Aketil. The Marton, Askam & Ireleth Windfarm Action Group (MAIWAG) - a good source of real information on living with windfarms and a good links page. See also their June Newsletter here. Villagers Against Inappropriate Turbine Sitings (VAITS) - is a local group set up to rally support against the proposed development of a Wind Turbine Farm near St James, South Elmham in Suffolk. The Saddleworth Moors Action Group - the protest group opposing United Utilities plans to build 7 giant 350 ft Wind Turbines on one of the most beautiful spots in the South Pennines. NO to The Whinash Windfarm - a local response to the Proposed Environmental Disaster in the Parishes of Orton and Tebay in the County of Cumbria. Ochils Environmental Protection Group (OEPG) - provides information about the many wind power station proposals that are planned for the Ochil Hills in north central Scotland. These are being developed by many different companies and this site provides a cumulative overview. Cefn Croes action group - the website for the group in opposition to the Cefn Croes wind power station, including the book “THE BATTLE FOR CEFN CROES’ available for free download. NO To The Scout Moor Windfarm - the website of the opposition group for the United Utilities and Peel Holdings wind power station proposal - 26 turbines, 100 metres high. Campaign Against Turbines at Shipdham (CATS) - this Website has been set up by a group of local residents opposing the proposed erection of three of the largest wind turbines in Europe. The location is in between Shipdham and Bradenham in Norfolk. Very interesting turbine "flicker" effect diagram. Rimside Moor Wind Farm Protest the action group formed to oppose the proposed Rimside Moor wind farm, Northumberland. Ceiriog Valley Action Group - NO to wind turbines at Cefn Coed. Their aim is to campaign for the rejection of any proposal to site wind turbines at Cefn Coed, or anywhere else in the Ceiriog Valley. Save the Vale Action Group (SVAG) - the website of the group of volunteers from Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset, whose aim is to oppose an imminent planning application by Ecotricity to install a wind power station at Symphony Farm in Cucklington, on the edge of the Blackmore Vale. Communities Opposing Lamonby Turbines (COLT) - the website of communities opposing a windfarm at Lamonby in Cumbria. Friends of Eden, Lunesdale and Lakeland (FELLS) - the website of the group fighting plans for a wind power station in the Eden valley, the Lake District, Lunesdale and other Pennines sites.. Friends of Cumbria’s Environment (FORCE) - the website of the group opposing wind turbine planning applications in inappropriate locations, in particular at Boltons Parish. Thorne and District Windfarm Action Group (TDWAG) - the website of the group fighting local Humberside proposals for wind power stations, particularly a group encircling Thorne Moors, and also wider national plans. The Wight Against Rural Turbines (ThWART) - ThWART was born in January 2001 following concerns that a windfarm was about to be built south of the village of Wellow and has recently gone into top gear pending the expected Planning Application later in 2004 from Your Energy Ltd. Meikle Carewe Windfarm Action Group (McWAG) - This is a small local community campaigning against a wind power station in North-East Scotland, near Aberdeen. NoAH - This is a campaign group formed to protect the landscape and economy of Angus from the effects of misplaced wind power stations, particularly at Ark Hill. Views of Angus - Campaign to stop ‘Renewable Energy Systems’ putting up a wind power station on Ark Hill near Glamis. Drumderg Windfarm Information - Website set up by Alyth Community Council to enable local people to express their views on a wind power station planning application for Drumderg Hill. Walkerburn Against the Windfarm - Walkerburn is a small village in the Tweed Valley, and currently faces a proposal from AMEC for a windfarm of 14 x 100m turbines. Renewable Energy Foundation The Renewable Energy Foundation (REF), which launched on 15th July 2004, has called for an immediate cross-party review of UK energy policy. The mission of the organisation is to ‘encourage the development of renewable energy and energy conservation whilst safeguarding the landscapes of the United Kingdom from unsustainable industrialisation. New York has been inundated with proposals to build wind turbines and wind turbine ‘farms’ or ‘parks’. Unfortunately, most of us (and our local governments) only hear from the power companies. CITIZENS OPPOSING WIND TURBINE SITES (Windcows) The concerned group, CITIZENS OPPOSING WINDTURBINE SITES (C.O.W.S), was formed by a concerned group of citizens to protect the health, safety and well being of all citizens in regards to the proposed 474 foot tall, 49 turbine Twin Creeks Wind Farm which is proposed for the Townships of Mishicot, Two Creeks and Two Rivers.
