DART - dorset against rural turbines
(Jointly with the Dorset CPRE
- Campaign to Protect Rural England)

Spot the tractor - the proposed wind turbines would dwarf structures in the surrounding area!

Lower Winterborne Wind Power Station

17th June 2005: "Your Energy Ltd." not only withdrew their application, but are NOT NOW going to submit another application. Dorset CPRE (Council for the Protection of Rural England) and DART (Dorset against Rural Turbines) were delighted to hear that the Appeal lodged by Your Energy Ltd. on 27th April against the refusal by North Dorset District Council of their application to build nine giant wind turbines, larger than Salisbury spire, on land at Winterborne Zelston, owned by M. Hooper & Sons, had been dismissed.

This was because "Your Energy Ltd." failed to comply to statutory requirements. This news removed from hundreds of local inhabitants the threat that has been hanging over them for the last two years and enables them to get on with their lives. Both CPRE and DART support the use of the many other renewable energy sources available and hope that the Government will give more attention to bringing on stream these other sources rather than land based wind power.

ON TUESDAY 26th OCTOBER 2004 The Development Control Committee (DCC) of North Dorset District Council (NDDC) voted against the planning application by Your Energy Ltd. for 9 wind turbines in the Lower Winterborne Valley.

Download our October Newsletter for the full story.

This proposed development is for 9 Wind Turbines of 105M (344 feet) high by "Your Energy Ltd." near Winterborne Zelston, Winterborne Tomson and Anderson in Dorset.

The applicant company is "Lower Winterborne Windfarm Ltd." This has nominal capital of £1000 and paid up capital of 2 pence. It's parent company is "Your Energy Ltd." which has share capital of £200 and as at December 2002 had made a loss of £278,000.

The "Your Energy Ltd." directors own 49% of the company and do not control it.

51% of "Your Energy Ltd." is owned and controlled by Mistral Invest Ltd., a Venture Capital Company incorporated in the Bahamas.

Mistral Invest Ltd. is in turn controlled by CNC Investments Corp., also incorporated in the Bahamas.

The ultimate beneficial owner of CNC Investments is Consolidated Navigation Corporation, incorporated in the Marshall Islands.

For more interesting information on the owners of "Your Energy Ltd." follow this link.

  • The applicant is clearly a "shell company", by any definition.
  • "Your Energy Ltd." have no track record of success on running a Power Station.
  • The Applicant is controlled by a company in the Marshall Islands, where regulation does not perhaps have the highest reputation.
  • Typically venture capital companies exist to make a "quick buck".
  • There is no commitment to the area from the "Your Energy Ltd." or it's backers.
  • There is no benefit to local taxpayers for the sacrifice of their amenity.
  • There is no benefit to the climate or any effect on global warming (see our Reality page).
  • If the subsidy scheme changed, making Wind Power Station "unprofitable", local Taxpayers could ultimately have to bear the cost of the removal or operation of these machines, as it is hard to see another binding commitment to these costs.

Both neighbouring Councils AND the County Council have registered strong objections. See the objection letters on our 'Background' page.

The map on our 'Graphics' page shows the current proposed location of the wind turbines for this development, with the turbines for this development marked with a red circle with a cross in them.
